Chez Hwang is loved dearly by my friends stating that they serve the best pork bone soup in town. I had to check it myself.
It is run by a Korean family, like many other Korean restaurants. The setting is simple, perfect for big groups of friends. The menu is quite extensive too; most common dishes can be found.
Pork bone soup
The reason why my friend loves this more than any other restaurant’s version is because of the crushed perilla seeds. The crushed perilla seeds provide a nutty fragrant to the soup. To be honest, I couldn’t detect the difference. Sure, I enjoyed the pork bone soup, just like any other. This isn’t any bad thing to say. I never had any bad pork bone soup; I loved them all. My own verdict would be you can’t go wrong with this pork bone soup.
Spicy seafood noodle soup
This seafood noodle soup was generous on the seafood. There were blue crabs, shrimps, octopus – obviously, I would had squealed in joy if there were abalone and sea urchin. Who am I kidding? This is not Korea. But with that ample of seafood, I was content. The noodles were perfect as well. Korean noodles somehow do not become soggy however long they remain in the water.
The best point about Chez Hwang is accessibility. It is about 10-15 minute walk from metro Vendome. There is many free parking around the restaurant as well. It can accommodate large groups and it is very budget friendly. The food portion is not an issue to satisfy any great appetite. BBQ is an option too if you are looking for that. A great solid choice if you’re craving for Korean food.
