After a recent of review about Mandy’s, I was told that Green Cafe serves just as a good salad if not, better.
I was curious and we cannot deny that Mandy’s salad is on the expensive side. If I can have a just as great salad offered at a lower price, why wouldn’t I?
There are several Green Cafe and they are all conveniently placed in Montreal downtown, so it is very accessible for office workers during lunch time. I had a healthy walk of 5-10 minutes and I was already at the one located on Drummond street.
There was no crazy line-up like Mandy’s, but the seats are quickly taken. So if you decide to eat there, you may want to go there a bit earlier than 12, if not be ready to take it away to your desk!
For lunch, there are combo such as: salad and soup, salad and juice, sandwich and soup, and sandwich and juice. I had their combo salad and soup for about 16$. The salad I chose was their quinoa and turkey breast salad and their soup of the day.
The salad was big and the soup was a generous portion too, but I was able to eat all of that and I was not hungry for the next 8 hours. I actually really enjoyed the salad, but I did not like how the dressing was a bit too watery and there too much, especially on the lower half of the salad. Although I was not sure what type of soup was served, I extremely loved it. I could taste the cumin and curry in it. I could easily just have the soup, in a bigger size obviously and served with bread or even pour it all over a bowl of rice.
Green Cafe is a definitely a less pricey version of Mandy’s. But there’s something about Mandy’s that can’t be replaced and the flavor at Mandy’s simply is more my cup of tea. Nonetheless, Green Cafe is a great alternative and it is never bad to choose this over fast food franchise!
Nice. On my office lunch TDL.
