Montreal first Ribfest until July 1st

From June 27 till July 1st, Southern United States has brought their legendary BBQ ribs to Montreal for the very first time. You have exactly 2 days left before they pack and there is nothing that should hold you back!

When I first got there at 9PM on July 27, the ribfest was ridiculously crowded. After an hour a half wait, about more or less 30 minutes to go until the front, it was announced that the ribs were sold out and the chicken was soon to be sold out as well.

Lesson #1: Do not go on the first day.
Lesson #2: Going at 9PM does not change anything.

Mr.Butter was determined to have his BBQ. So knowing the Ribfest starts at 11AM, we went back the next day while it was raining.

And look at this! Free for all!

We can choose any stand we want without caring about the waiting time. It took us less than 5 minutes at each booth.

Lesson #3: The early bird gets the worm.
Lesson #4: Rain? It does not matter. Wear a poncho!

A quick snap of Camp31 and my ribs were already ready!

1/4 of chicken and 1/3 of ribs from Texas Rangers was priced at 15$.

The chicken was tender although a bit dry. The sauce was great balance of saltiness and sweetness. With a hint of spiciness, some may actually find the quantity of the sauce was lacking. The ribs could be a bit more tender. Definitely not the falling off the bone kind of ribs but nonetheless, very tasty.

This full rack of ribs was only 23$. Is this a deal or what?

I thoroughly enjoyed these ribs from Camp31. The sauce was superb. Usually I would get sick of the heaviness and sweetness of the sauce, but this one did not cause any problem. The quantity of the sauce on the ribs were on point so was the ratio of the sweetness and saltiness. Honestly, the finest ribs I’ve ever tasted so far. I like to emphasize that I do not like falling off the bone type of ribs; I like to be able to have a bite of the ribs before it falls off. These ribs from Camp31 accomplished exactly that.

Lesson #5: Better ribs than anywhere I know in Montreal
Lesson #6: Only 2 days left before Ribfest is over.
Lesson #7: Be prepared for an unproductive day afterwards…
