Pasta Andrea: Great view and great pasta

Biking along the canal Lachine, I couldn’t stop but feel dazed by the tranquility of the river. So peaceful. Because of this, an urge to sit on a terrace while enjoying the view always comes to mind.

Pasta Andrea, located just beside Rene-Levesque park, has a splendid view of the river and canal. And especially after a long ride, carbs were all I was craving for.

The nice flowers decorating the terrace.

I was famished and the Table d’hote menu seemed the perfect fit for my empty stomach. 3 services for approximately 16$ (Varies depending which one is chosen). What a deal!

On a sunny day, a salad would seem the ultimate choice. However, this soup proved us wrong. This was a cold soup made of cucumbers and dill. Definitely, something unexpected, but very fitting!

A simple salad just to lessen my digestive load before the full attack from the pasta.

The view is incredible as you can see from the picture here. I would highly recommend to visit Lachine just a change of view from the usual Old Port.

Not to take this offensively, this looked like kraft mac and cheese! Obviously, this pasta was on another league, like the distance between Earth and Pluto. It goes without saying that this pasta was al dente. So rich in cream, the bits of smoked salmon and grilled salmon could be tasted in every bite. Quite marvelous.

This dish has the best of both world. Trout and spaghetti. Trout is seriously becoming my favorite fish. It really tastes amazing. And this specific one wasn’t an exception. The tomato sauce on the spaghetti was so fresh and light in flavors. I was astonished that a spaghetti could taste this good.

For desserts (yes, this was a lunch meal and we went full out), we had creme caramel and carrot cake with a layered chocolate on top.

The creme caramel had a strong egg presence. It wasn’t something I minded, but it reminded me of Chinese steamed egg dessert, which brought me back to great memories where my grandma would make the most amazing steamed egg dessert. Just like Ratatouille explained, food that brings back the past is the best.

On the other hand, the carrot cake wasn’t particularly interesting. The chocolate layer made the cake too sweet. A thinner layer would pair it better.

Pasta Andrea knows their pasta in and out! With such a spectacular view and unbeatable lunch menu, there is no reason why anyone shouldn’t visit go during the weekend. I highly suggest to bike from Downtown all the way to there. It simply magnifies the experience.
