Tk Restobar: Eat with your fingers!

Tk Restobar: Eat with your fingers!

I always find that eating with my fingers makes food so much tastier. It’s almost like my fingers have some magical marinade. This is why I eat sushi with my fingers and not with the chopsticks (Actually, that’s the proper Japanese way to enjoy sushi). All to bring to the next point, when I learned that TK Restobar serves Kamayan, I was down!

Kamayan is basically a  Filipino meal served on banana leaves and is eaten with hands only. First warning to consider, do not bring friends that hate to share food and are shallow minded. Second warning, a very important one, do not bring sick people as the virus will easily contaminate the food, and then propagate to your digestive system, and hence you will be sick as well.

I believe that Kamayan is available as long as you are a party of more than 4 people and notice them a few days in advance that a Kamayan experience is desired. In other words, Kamayan cannot be ordered whenever you drop by.

For 25$, which is almost a steal, are you ready to see the feast? (And yes, dessert is included as well)

This monster was about 1.5-2 meters long for 8 people. We had 5 big boys with us, and still couldn’t finish it.

The meal had various signature and classic Filipino dishes. To tell the truth, I don’t know what they are called. The only one I remember is Bicol express because it was my favorite. Bicol express is like a hot and spicy shredded pork. It goes perfectly with rice.

There were, just to name a few, chicken legs, chicken wings, fishes, calamari, pork and the list went on.

To eat, you will choose which food you like to taste, and then pick it up with your fingers and then pick a bit of rice as well. Then, it all go into your mouth. It’s that simple. No one cares a bit for manners. It’s a very fun and social meal.

And as if there wasn’t enough food, desserts were served. TURON! Turon is an incredible Filipino dessert, like a spring roll (Lumpia) but the fillings are bananas or plantain. The turons at TK Resto were good, but cannot be competed against Mr.Butter’s dear mom’s.

TK Restobar was an amusing experience, where it is perfect for groups. It was my first time seeing Mr.Butter having a hard time sitting down, laying down or any position requiring his stomach being squeezed. As a Filipino, he loves it (the food, not the aftermath).
