Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick was a popular item when I started to obsess with make up. But it never appealed to me because I thought it was a glitter mess and knew nothing about the highlighting.
Many years have passed and my ex-colleague who is now my cute friend gifted me this shimmer brick. At first, I felt uneasy if I would like this generous gift. I didn’t want it to be left out in my stash untouched. How wasteful is that? Consequently, I used it after 5 months, I am still using it and loving it!
I actually like the sleek packaging. Nothing over the top. Just basic yet sleek. I heard the shimmer block can easily be shattered, so I did not want to risk it and I did not bring it with me while travelling.
Once opened, there are 5 stripes of different shimmery colors attached together. Like the name states “bronze”, this shimmery block mainly focused on rose gold shades.
The lightest shades are not strongly pigmented. But that is something desired because an overly powerful highlighter is not flattering. The color pay off for the remaining shades are evidently wonderful.
I believe why Bobbi Brown shimmery brick is appealing because different shades can be created with the combination of these 5 shades.
When the colors are all mixed together, a golden brown, or simply bronze, is emerged. I don’t actually mix them together. I prefer using the top 2 stripes as highlighter and the last 3 stripes together as a blusher.
With all honestly, I don’t love the top 2 shades as highlighter. Either I find them too light, barely seeing any difference, or I find them overdone and glittery when I heavily applied them. It seems like I can never find the perfect balance. Also, I like to emphasize, instead of a sheen, this highlighter reflects light with its glitter.
The other 3 shades are an amazing bronzed blusher. Whenever I apply them as one, I immediately look healthy and glowing.
However, my favorite usage of this make up item isn’t for cheek and face. My favorite way to use this make up is on the eyes! These rose golden shades are incredible as eyeshadows. Pale or tan, these can’t go wrong on anyone. Really a multi purpose product!
Now that summer is arriving, this product will sure get plenty of love from me!
