Bol Orange, or Orange Bowl, opened up not too long ago on Decarie, right next to Cote-Vertu metro station. The turnover of restaurants is quite frequent on this area, so I was often skeptical to try any until a friend suggested Bol Orange.
For once, I was envious of Vanier students. For once, I wished I was a Vanier student.
Just like typical Korean restaurants, the decor is minimal, or should I say, bare. But that is the charm of Korean restaurants. It is very downplayed. The focus is on the food. Filled with flavors.
The menu is displayed at large that you really cannot miss it once you step in. I was surprised at the price! Most items cost 10$ or less! The problem here becomes over-ordering. There was only Mr.Butter and I, but we ended up ordering 4 dishes (because I was sick, hungry, cold, and greedy). It was enough to feed 3 people.
The kimchi soup and the kimbap were surprisingly good! The only disappointment was the spicy fried chicken. It was not spicy at all, and tasted like general chicken but in chicken wing format. If you like general tao chicken, this should not stop you for ordering.
I really miss restaurants serving good food at low prices. It seems like a rarity now. I really hope Bol Orange is here to stay. I actually wanted to have another kimbap from them the next day!
I’m impressed by the presentation. Gonna put that on my TDL!
