Tandoor et Grille (Greenfield Park): My first Indian meal in South Shore

Tandoor et Grille (Greenfield Park): My first Indian meal in South Shore

There are a few “new” restaurants popping up on Taschereau in South Shore. Note I used “new” because I could be wrong how new they are and also because they already one an establishment somewhere on the island.

One of them is Tandoor et Grille. When I stepped in, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to stay because it was dead quiet. But then again, it was only 5 in the evening, still early for supper. Slowly, a few tables were taken. However, the restaurant is so big that even with a few tables occupied, the place still looks empty.

From my understanding, during lunch time, the restaurant becomes a buffet and during evening, it is only a la carte. This explains the arrangement of the tables, all arranged in rows like a school cafeteria.

The extensive list of dishes on the menu convinced me to stay.

We were served 2 pieces of thin cracker like bread. This was served for customers. They were so crispy and light that reminded me so much of chips. They came with 2 sauces to dip in, which were perfectly spiced. I could continue to eat this.

IMG_3915

Mr.Butter ordered Samosa as appetizers. An order came with 2. I never had a good experience with Samosa. However, these ones were delightful. They weren’t as heavy as the ones I had before.

As main courses, we had Tikka Masala with lamb and Shahi Paneer. The Tikka Masala was satisfying. The lamb was tender, but there could be more. I wanted to try something new and vegetarian. The Shahi Paneer was suggested by the waiter. He said it was similar version of Butter Chicken but without the chicken. I listened as he said it was his favorite out of all the vegetarian dishes. To my disappointment, like he said, Shahi Paneer tasted exactly like Butter Chicken without the chicken. Sure, it tasted good and there were a few pieces of cottage cheese here and there, but I wanted something new to try.

To accompany our main dishes, we had naan and paratha. The naan was good, but Mr.Butter said it could be better. I found it soft and buttery. The paratha wasn’t as good as the one at Thanja because it wasn’t as flaky and buttery. It was a bit dry and too crispy to my liking.

Overall, Tandoor et Grille is a nice restaurant to enjoy Indian food. However, I find the price a bit high for the amount we are getting and the ambiance of the restaurant is not that welcoming. But if you live in South Shore and don’t want to drive all the way to the island for Indian food, this could be the place with a few setbacks.

Red Cherry lashes review

Red Cherry lashes review

I’ve heard of Red Cherry lashes back in the years where I was obsessed with beauty youtube videos. The “gurus” would used them to get fluttery lashes. I wanted them…but I didn’t know how!

Guess what! ObsessedCanada.com is selling them now! No shipping fee in Canada and no minimum either! You can see the whole range of eyelashes here!

ObsessedCanada.com let me try 6 pairs! Just to choose 6 pairs within all of choices available was such a difficult task! Difficult but fun 🙂

Here they are!

1484243_499202060186181_1474045706_n

So far, I’ve only tried 2 pairs as I tend to only wear them on special occasions. For the sake of this review, I tried to wear them on many outings!

For one of the 2 pairs I tried, I wore it twice to see the life span of the lashes. After the first time wearing it and thorough washing, the lashes seemed almost ruined. A few lashes were pulled away while I was removing the glue away. But, even in this condition, I tried to wear it again. Although the lashes were not as voluminous as before, the lashes still gave my eyes an oomph effect. After the second wear, I really had to throw the lashes away.

With my other pair, I was even more careful when I was cleaning the lashes to avoid the incidence from the first pair. And, efforts paid off. The lashes were still in great condition!

Overall, Red cherry lashes are great and inexpensive. They are a bit fragile so have to handle with great care if you want it to last longer. It was easy to wear, could actually be one of the easiest lashes I’ve worn so far, but that could be because I finally know the trick to put eyelashes.

Here are shots I attempted to show how beautiful they were. But my shots just don’t quite justify their beauty! I was wearing Red Cherry #46

Seoul Chako: The more the merrier

Seoul Chako: The more the merrier

Mr.Butter craved for Korean barbecue for a while. Back in 2013 to be more precise. And I kept delaying it with excuses such as ” I need to keep my S-line”. Who am I kidding? I got no s-line. Working on it though!

But little did he know, I was planning a surprise party for him! Seoul Chako was the perfect venue. It has a private area to host for a large party. But sadly, although I did reserve 1-2 month in advance, I think they messed up my reservation, so we ended up having separate tables. That was a set back, but nonetheless, we were still able to enjoy the night.

We had so much fun and were so restricted in space that I did not take any picture for the night. But luckily, there are so many reviews out there that I shamelessly took the following the picture from The Gazette.

The menu in Seoul Chako is extensive, which is great for a large party so everyone can find something they like. It is not strictly just beef. There are sushi on the menu as well. Surprisingly, some of their rolls were pretty good. Obviously, this is heaven for any carnivore. All you can eat! So I think anyone who does not eat meat is in a loser position, money wise of course.

To fully enjoy Seoul Chako experience, you should not expect fully functional bathroom structures ( their bathroom is so due for some repairs), and authentic Korean food. Without a doubt, the food was delicious for an all you can eat establishment. I have read multiple reviews having bad experience with their service. I’m fortunate to say that I was lucky enough to have quick and great service.

Now, go easy on the food or I hope you got your elastic band pants!

Pho Thanh Nam Quan: Seen by locals only

Pho Thanh Nam Quan: Seen by locals only

Mr.Butter brought me to this hidden pho restaurant. Unless you buy your groceries inside this mall, which has a Metro, a fruit store, a SAQ and other small boutiques. If you’re not around the area, there is no way you would stumble across this Vietnamese restaurant.

So, here’s a review for the locals who are curious about this place!

IMG_3900

I had the rare beef and tender tendons. Not very rare was it? It came completely cooked. But, the tender tendons were delicious. The quantity of the meat and tendons were just enough, neither generous nor stingy.

The soup was flavourful. It tasted much richer than the other pho place around the corner, Fusion Asiatique Sante. It could be the MSG difference, but my throat did not react badly after the dinner.

IMG_3902

Mr.Butter had grilled chicken with rice and imperial rolls. He enjoyed it quite a bit. The imperial rolls were fried impeccably, which is such a rare occurrence in most pho restaurants.

Pho Thann Nam Quan is not spectacular. But great value for your bucks. It’s a solid pho restaurant that may fix your pho cravings.

Tequila Taco: Crazy good Sopa Azteca

Tequila Taco: Crazy good Sopa Azteca

Ever since Mr.Butter noticed Tequila Taco at the intersection of Sherbrooke and St-Laurent, whenever I passed by, I always wanted to check it out. Why not with such a cute name?

And we finally did!

Once sat down, I was felt I was transported back to my recent trip to the south! The music really set the atmosphere. Mr.Butter was enjoying the playlist. He loves bachata!

I played safe and ordered whatever had the “House Special” tag because I really didn’t want any disappointment, not when everything was going so well right in the beginning.

IMG_3883

House made tortilla chips were served and they were addictive! One of the best one I’ve tasted so far. I wished we could have more!

IMG_3891

I’m so glad that this picture came out so beautifully! I want the audience to understand how DELICIOUS this sopa azteca was! It has been a while that I admired a dish this much, especially when this is a soup! The soup was filled with cheese, tortilla, coriander and avocado goodness! To put avocado in a soup never crossed my mind! I should really try to do that at home, it really helps the soup to taste creamy. It was like a tomato soup but 20 times better. If I come again, it would be for this amazing soup and I would order the full size version!

IMG_3892

Mr.Butter had Tacos de Asada, which were soft taco shells with tender beef…NOT. The beef was not tender; it was probably overcooked. Not something I would want another bite.

IMG_3894

As for my main course, I had Tacos Baja California. It was funny. I felt like I was eating Chinese food wrapped in a taco. Mr.Butter couldn’t agree more! It has to be the mix of stir fried shrimps, bell peppers and onion. Needless to say, I wasn’t satisfied. It didn’t taste bad, but just not what I was looking for.

IMG_3896

Before leaving, free shots were served! Sweetly good!

Their tacos were a letdown but Sopa Azteca is already convincing me to return there again!
